Beaded Handmade T-Shirt Tank Top

Yesterday I began thinking about simplicity. I was thinking about how many awesome clothes were made by hand in olden times out of pure necessity. There is some thing so satisfying about turning a plain white t shirt in to a canvas. I began last night making a tank top out of a plain Hanes Tee. I hand stitched the seams...honestly not my best work as I was really ancy and excited to see the prototype! I did not do any machine sewing. I am really into the hand sewing thing right now. You really pay attention to simple lines and lovely accents when you are passing the fabric through your fingers. It is like being in a craft time machine. The best part is the imperfections. The way the fabric scrunches a little higher on one side then the other reminds me that I lovingly shaped this piece with my own two hands. I adorned the front with flowers...also hand made...beaded and attached them in a pattern appealing to me. I also saved this shirt from being discarded. All in all I feel very happy about my craft. I think more hand sewing is to come. I still love my machine...but I am currently enjoying the craft time machine created with my own hands. Here are some photos of my new favorite top. I may add some gray cross stitching around the princess like seams in the front for added stability and cuteness.

Vintage Wall Art: Retro Embroidery

Hanging_3

These are two hanging pieces I picked up at a Discovery Thrift Store.

I love them. They are both embroidered in funky colors. The interesting one is the mod looking piece that has many different sized squares overlapping and in vibrant colors, textures and patterns. I am not getting good light today so they are not popping in pictures as they do in real life. This pair really goes well with our orange leather sofa and helps to complete the rumpus room feel we are going for. It is slowly turning into a great room to listen to records in!
